The Culture School in Nykvarn is a central and important part of Ung i Nykvarn, our collective offering of activities and events for children and youth. We provide a creative and developing platform where young people can explore their interests in music, dance, theater, and other artistic expressions, while also being given the opportunity to grow as individuals.
As part of Ung i Nykvarn, the Culture School is more than just a place for teaching - we are a safe and inspiring meeting place where children and youth get the chance to create, develop, and be part of a positive social community. Together with other actors in the municipality, such as the library and open activities, we contribute to creating safe places for young people to both have fun and grow in their creative expressions.
Woodwind Teacher for Nykvarn's Culture SchoolJob ResponsibilitiesDo you want to inspire young people to explore and develop their creativity? The Culture School in Nykvarn is now looking for an engaged woodwind teacher for children and youth aged 6-19 years. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a creative and developing environment, where you lead individual lessons, group teaching, projects, ensembles, and orchestras. At the Culture School, we work based on the needs and interests of children and youth and strive to create teaching that is both inspiring and tailored to each student. By being part of the Culture School, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the personal and musical development of young people and provide them with the tools to grow both as musicians and individuals.
You will plan and actively participate in the Culture School's goals and commitments, such as outreach activities and concerts, as well as student recruitment. This takes place in close collaboration with the manager, colleagues, and students. You will actively participate in meetings and training. Teaching occurs in the afternoons and evenings. Weekend work may occur.
Additional InformationNykvarn Municipality is a Finnish administrative area, and we consider it an asset if you speak Finnish.
We require you to present a criminal record extract before employment.
The position is a vacation service with a working time of 40 hours per week.
QualificationsWe expect that you have a relevant pedagogical university education or other education/experience that the employer deems suitable. You have excellent knowledge of woodwinds such as clarinet, saxophone, and flute with a good breadth regarding genre and playing technique. You have previous experience in group teaching with children and youth. In your role, you need to have good ability and methodology to utilize and develop students' potential and enthusiasm based on each individual's personal conditions. You enjoy working with both breadth and depth. You come up with new ideas and are responsible, structured, and care about maintaining a high professional level. We would also like you to have previously worked on the digital platform StudyAlong.
Are you an engaged and creative person who wants to offer meaningful leisure activities for our children and youth? Then this is the position for you.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Knowledge of and experience in group teaching, i.e., explicit group methodology that builds on both the individual student's and the group's development.
- Education/knowledge in other instruments and/or art forms.
- Experience from previous work/education in adapted culture schools.
- Digital creation.
- Cross-disciplinary.
- Experience from previous work/education in other artistic expressions.
